NYC oh how I love you...

Having been to New York a couple of times in the depths of winter I was very excited to visit the Big A in June.  I stayed in Williamsburg (and felt very square among all the hipster beards).  I love New York in summer.  Everyone was out on the streets and the mood was P-A-R-T-Y.  Oh yes, and it was 30 degrees.

A Pilgrimage to Chislehurst

A couple of weekends ago D and I decided to do a bit of the Green Chain Walk - from Crystal Palace to Chislehurst.  The route took us through some delightful parks and along some perhaps not so delightful roads but it was worth it - our adventure (17 miles according to iPhone!) culminated in us finding my grandparents old house, where they lived when I was a little girl and visiting their and my uncle's graves.  The house has been somewhat enhanced since G&G were there - I don't think Grandpa would have known what to do with a turntable driveway!

Grandpa used to have boxes of Fruit Gums in his study, so I brought a packet at a garage en route and split the pack between Grandpa, Grandma and Anthony.  Grandma is actually in with Grandpa - we just haven't got around to updating the headstone yet.

These pictures are mostly Chislehurst as I failed to fully charge my camera before we left and was keen to save it for our ultimate destination.  Of course, we finished our day off with a few scoops in a couple of the local pubs.  Dad was apparently rather familiar with the Rambler's Rest in his teenage years...
